2015 — The Year We Declared War on Subpar Burger Reviews

The burger reviews of the time were as murky as a foggy Vancouver morning, obscured by the shadowy figures of sponsorships and reciprocal favours. It was a landscape where impartiality was as rare as a well-done steak in a sea of medium-rare enthusiasts, and perplexity was the special of the day.

Two decades of shilling paid-for burger reviews clouded by sponsorships and reciprocal favours, leading to a landscape rife with partiality and perplexity. Who do you trust?

As avid burger connoisseurs, our quest for the ultimate patty experience began not in the kitchen, but amidst the digital clutter of paid promotions and sponsored content that dominated our searches for “Vancouver’s best burger.” The online landscape was a veritable junkyard, strewn with biased articles where the size of the complimentary meal seemed to be in direct correlation with the glowing nature of the review. This wasn’t mere advertising; it was an affront to the hallowed tradition of burger appreciation—a tradition we held dear.

In defiance, we stood tall, spatulas in hand, to declare an end to the era of shilling. Our mission was clear: to ignite real conversations, foster open-source evaluations, and craft genuine reviews. We gathered a fellowship of burger aficionados—those who not only savored their patties but also held a deep respect for the science behind the perfect burger.

Our initial enthusiasm, however, was met with the unpredictable hurdles of life. Then, as if on cue, the world found itself in the vice-like grip of a global pandemic. Our modest collection of about twelve restaurant critiques, each penned with care and candor, was abruptly put on hold. The world changed, and so did we.

But like the phoenix rising from the ashes, we’ve returned with a renewed zeal for the art of the burger. We’re not just back; we’re back with a vengeance, armed with a transparent, open-source review system and a user-friendly rating algorithm that’s as robust as a triple-stack burger. We’re here to serve you the unvarnished truth, the inside scoop, the real deal.

We’re reintroducing our love for all things burger with a fervor that burns brighter than the grills we stand before. Our new rating system isn’t just a tool; it’s a compass for your gastronomic escapades—a guide to navigate the vast ocean of Vancouver’s burger scene. With it, you can chart a course to the juiciest, most flavorful burgers in town, free from the influence of corporate sponsorship.

Join us as we embark on this burger odyssey, a journey of taste and truth. We’ll revisit the eateries of yesteryear and measure them against the sophisticated metrics we’ve developed. Together, we’ll explore the enigma of the perfect patty and celebrate the craft that turns a simple meal into a culinary masterpiece.

We've already posted the white paper for our Benz-Bongo Burger Algorithm, and we're excited to start bringing you reviews as soon as we can.
